About us: We are small nursery based in Mullumbimby, on the Far North Coast of New South Wales. Our goal is to provide species orchids for everyone, whether a beginner or a seasoned grower, and to bring the wonderful world of orchids to as many people as possible. We also believe strongly in the importance of conserving species orchids for future generations and for scientific research, without taking plants from the wild where in a lot of cases they are under threat. To that end we use tissue culture techniques for the propagation of species orchids. Some of our plants are collected from the bush, but these plants have been collected by licensed collectors, from populations that would be otherwise destroyed, ie: that are undergoing development, land clearing for agricultural purposes, road building, plants that are in trees along fence-lines that would be cut down and burnt be landowners etc. We are also reintroducing native species into our reforestation project on our property.

Nomenclature: The naming of orchid species is can be a little difficult at times. Due to human nature, taxonomists like to play silly buggers and change names around. Even though it is frustrating to us growers, having to rewrite our tags all the time, quite often there is a good reason for these changes, even if they seem obscure to us. There are many reasons why orchid nomenclature changes including: Incorrect references being used at some point in the past, modern genetic techniques etc.
As a nursery we have to be current with our naming. we believe that the Royal Botanic Gardens in Kew, London is an extremely reputable source of current naming information. We use the World Checklist of Monocotyledons Hosted at Kew, as our primary source of information in relation to the correct naming of species orchids.

Sources: We source our plants from all over the Australia and the world. We do our utmost to make sure our plants are healthy, virus free, and in the best possible condition.
